Tilly Jane A-Frame Adventure with Portland Gay Backpackers
Escape to the stunning northeast side of Mt Hood and experience the Historic Tilly Jane A-Frame, one of Mt. Hood's oldest gems. Join your Portland Gay Backpacker friends for a weekend of outdoor bliss amid breathtaking landscapes. The A-Frame is a beloved haven for winter enthusiasts, offering access to hiking, snowshoeing, and backcountry skiing from November through June.

What You Need to Know:
This is our 3rd year hosting this event and it fills up quickly. If you want to join us, sign up now!
This is an epic backpacking adventure with 20 friends; a tent is unnecessary.
The $45 fee per spot is non-refundable but transferable.
Prepare for a 2.7-mile trail with a 1,900-foot elevation gain, potentially over snowy terrain.
Drinking water isn't available; melt snow or find water at Tilly Creek.
Expect extreme winter weather; only join if you're experienced in backcountry travel.
Bring all your backpacking gear, including a sleeping kit (no bedding provided).
Opt for a 20-degree sleeping bag at least; pack extra clothes if you get cold.
Earplugs are necessary for peaceful sleep with up to 19 fellow adventurers.
If you plan to cook, bring a camp stove or use the wood stove on-site (pots are available for boiling water only).
Composting toilet onsite within the alcove area: BYO toilet paper.
Leave no trace; pack all your garbage out with you.
Heat the large woodstove with the seasoned wood provided, a maul, a hatchet, and a fire starter.
The facility is open for public day use between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. if overnight guests are present.

This event is cannabis-friendly outdoors, and responsible alcohol consumption is allowed.
Sorry, no dogs are allowed in the A-Frame.
